Review: Pond’s Pearl Cleansing Gel, perfect for summer

It’s been quite a hot day and all I wanted to do since I finished eating dinner was jump in the shower and wash off my makeup. Ever had one of those days? I think we’re all going to be having more and more of those days as summer approaches and these past few weeks, I’ve been trying out Pond’s newest facial wash the White Beauty Pearl Cleansing Gel. I was able to attend its launch with Sampleroom last month and perhaps because those days weren’t exactly the introduction of the season of the sun just yet, I didn’t fully enjoy the wonders of this cleansing gel while road-testing.

But boy am I glad to have this in my sink right now! Here’s a few reasons why I’m currently enjoying Pond’s Pearl Cleansing Gel:

1. Lightweight Gel

I think this is the first gel-type cleanser of the brand and while that might not sound noteworthy, it actually is! Gel cleansers are lighter and cleanse your skin without “weighing it down” compared to milkier, creamy cleansers. Of course milky and creamy cleansers are great for moisturizing, but if your skin isn’t particularly dehydrated, a lightweight cleanser can be so refreshing. Especially during the summer season! You can switch up to a lighter cleanser like this if you want that extra refreshing feeling. I suspect oily and combination skin (like me!) will enjoy this all year round.

2. Energizing Scent

I misplaced my cleanser for a while (read: pregnant brain!) and I can honestly say that at first, it was the scent that I missed more than anything. I was looking for its fragrance, a rose scent which had grown on me, each time I washed my face with my old cleanser. It’s not over-powering and it’s definitely a feminine scent, but it completed the refreshing experience for me.

3. I didn’t breakout. Yay!

While I experience less and less breakouts as I grow older, I’m usually very careful about scented skincare as they’ve made me breakout in the past (you know, when my skin was more bagets and going through puberty, haha) so I’m always happy to find affordable skincare that works on my skin. The cleanser is supposed to be suitable for sensitive skin too.

We were shown at the launch how the Pond’s Pearl Cleansing Gel compared to a whitening facial soap and as you can see in the photo above, it broke down the pink sheet (left) which represents the protein in our skin. Scary, huh? It was demonstrated to us live and through a video to show how gentle the gel cleanser is which whitens without stripping skin of all moisture.

To recap: Pond’s Pearl Cleansing Gel is great for the summer because it’s lightweight and refreshing. It cleans skin without drying it out or being too heavy. If you’re not big on whitening, this might not be the cleanser for you.

Bonus: The smell might not sit well with the men in your life, but if they’re not too picky about that, I think they might actually like how this feels and it won’t dry out their skin 🙂

Watch out for my coming post on a Pond’s product that reminds me of a favorite from NARS, also perfect for summer!
