There was a period in my life when I could (and would) change my nail polish shade every week. Although I'm not very adventurous with shades, I've always enjoyed seeing my nails properly groomed because I feel it's the cherry on top of the beauty cake. But that was a couple of years ago and I confess that perhaps because of other domestic matters, I let the cherry slide. Sometimes I just find it too tasking to wait for layers of nail polish to dry when I need to catch up with my toddler or change a diaper, and sometimes...

Babies, babies, babies! I'm always elated whenever friends conceive and begin their journey to motherhood. Motherhood is one of the best things I've done with my life so far and I would indeed count it as one of my top experiences. Last week I was invited to Sabs Hernandez's (aka The Makeup Maven's) baby shower thrown by Rustan's for Baby Henri at the Raffles Makati Writers Bar. It was a fun afternoon of delicious high tea, games, and of course chika, and I'm glad I was able to meet more beauty bloggers.

Since becoming pregnant a second time, I've been reminded of one of the "conversation starters" I quite dislike and I wonder why Filipinos think it's okay to say, "Let me guess… (They take a step back and examine me from head to foot) I think you're having a boy." Filipino wivestales say a woman pregnant with a boy looks tired while a baby girl makes her look more blooming. This translates in my brain as:

Girrrrrrl, you don't look too good. You don't got that 'pregnancy glow'. You're not glowing, therefore, it can't be a girl.

Of course I just smile,...

Hello! Just in case you've been reading my blog and have wondered where I've gone, this my post to explain. If you haven't been reading my blog or haven't been wondering where I've been, this is still my blog to explain it. Hehe. I only realized the subject matter doesn't actually change after typing my sentence ;)I'm still here, I can still write and I haven't forgotten my password. The first reason for my absence is a happy one: I'm preggo! We found out last October and kept it a bit mum for a while. I was off to a...

Ever since becoming a mom to a toddler, I've had to rethink my shoe choices. I formerly lived (and ran) in heels when I was still working full-time in the publishing industry and when I was pregnant, I would only wear them every so often for special events. After giving birth and becoming a WAHM, I would slip on my heels whenever I wanted to a bit of a boost (physically as well). But ever since my little bugger began walking, it no longer seemed reasonable for me to stock up on heels as I used to. I began to...

I've been a nursing mama for 17 months, 1 week and 5 days. I often say that I can't leave my home without my eyebrows but these days it's more detrimental to leave home without my nursing bib. I honestly didn't prepare for breastfeeding before giving birth, I figured it would come naturally. But I suppose like most nursing moms will say, it doesn't, though I do believe it is God's design. My early days of nursing made for countless misadventures: nursing in a parked car, attempting to nurse in the middle of meals with family and friends because my...

Yes, I sometimes (translation: often) fall into the trap of comparing my messy existence to advertisements I see on baby products or new condominiums of young, happy and physically perfect mothers with neat homes who are playing with their clean and healthy children. I see them washing their infant serenely and it hardly looks like her body went through pregnancy. But baby is obviously only a few weeks old. Or maybe she's playing with her two kids ages eight and six, and she looks like she just turned 20 yesterday. [caption id=""...

I love makeup. I can talk about it for long periods of time. Sometimes, I use it to start a conversation with someone I have just met. I enjoy putting it on but most of all, I enjoy seeing other women discover more to their beauty when they learn how to apply it properly. I don't remember how old I was when I first got a hold of my own makeup--maybe 11 or 12 years old--but I clearly remember how. My mom dropped by an Avon outlet to buy a few things for herself while we were at the mall. There...
